Royal Guards In A Thriller The UK's Band of the Coldstream Guards unexpectedly perform Michael Jackson's "Thriller". ------------------------------------------- From: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2514588/Watch-royal-military-band-play-Thriller-to-stunned-tourists-video-exclusive.html MICHAEL Jackson's mega hit Thriller has been given this hilarious revamp by the army's world-famous Band of the Coldstream Guards - just a stones throw from Buckingham Palace. Hordes of tourists were left open-mouthed as they were treated to the spectacular show on Wednesday by the top military band. Forty drummers, trumpeters, clarinet and trombone players belted out the song. ?The band marched in formations almost mimicking the famous choreographed zombie routine from the music video. "It came out of nowhere," Philip Marfleet, 22, said who watched in awe with pals. "We were stunned. "They were practising some more traditional tunes and then all of a sudden they started playing Thriller. "What a moment." The lighting engineer, from Colchester, Essex, managed to capture it on his mobile phone. He gathered with more than 20 foreign tourists outside The Guards Museum, in Birdcage Walk, central London to enjoy the spectacle. He added: "It obviously wasn't the first time they had played it. "It was a polished performance. "A few foreign tourists asked me what it was all about, but I was unable to give them an explanation. "I was as stunned as they were. "At one point the musicians even appeared to be putting together some moves to go with the music. "Instead of marching in straight lines they formed a triangle." The oldest and best known band in the Army, based at the capital's Wellington Barracks, have actually been doing the routine for the last two months. A MoD spokesman said: "The piece has been part of their summer repertoire for a number of events and they've been playing it publicly for the last eight weeks, including at the Windsor Tattoo. "It is just a coincidence and not a tribute to Jackson." It comes just a week after the world-famous regimental band signed a Â1million recording contract with Universal Music. ~

Teacher Gives Own Sex Tape To 5th Graders On DVD ( accidently) A local teacher accidentally put pornography into a DVD that was meant to be filled with school memories from the past year, and nobody caught the error until after it was sent home, shocking parents and students alike. Parents of students who attend Isabelle Jackson Elementary said that the woman is a good teacher, but just made a mistake that may become the most embarrassing moment of their life. The offending DVD starts with a menu screen that displays various school trips and functions, and when you click on one of them, you see kids in a classroom sharing stories. They start clapping, then the video suddenly cuts to sex. "It goes from my son, straight to her on the couch," said 'Joe,' who saw the video along with his son and did not wish to be identified. "My son's reaction was, 'Dad, is that Ms. Defanti?'" "We were up till midnight doing the 'birds and the bees,'" he added. The person in the video turned out to be Isabelle Jackson Elementary fifth grade teacher Crystal Defanti. "All she could say was that it was a horrible mix up," Joe said. The teacher called his home the day after his child got the DVD, crying hysterically, profusely apologizing and asking the man and his wife to call every parent they knew to stop their kids from seeing the DVD too. The Elk Grove Unified School District says they are investigating, but legal experts say it's unlikely that the teacher will lose her job. "It's felony stupid, but it's not a crime," said defense expert Ken Rosenfeld. "Is it something that she should be disciplined for? Absolutely, but fired for? She didn't intend for this to happen." Joe doesn't care if the teacher keeps her job, he'd just like some help from the school. "Maybe offer some sort of counseling for my children, ask me how my children are doing," he said. "I want somebody to ask me the kind of questions my kids are asking me." School officials say a new DVD will be sent to students once it has been reviewed.

Crash survivor's 2-mile fall A woman who survived a fall of almost 10,000 feet in a 1971 plane crash tells how she is still haunted by it. • Survivor still haunted by 1971 air crash # German girl, 17, was only survivor of 1971 plane crash in Peruvian rainforest # Juliane Koepcke fell more than 3km into jungle attached to a row of seats # Koepcke suffered minor injuries, survived for 10 days alone in rainforest # Koepcke haunted by ordeal; especially when confronted with other air disasters MUNICH, Germany (CNN) -- Juliane Koepcke is not someone you'd expect to attract attention. Plainly dressed and wearing prescription glasses, Koepcke sits behind her desk at the Zoological Center in Munich, Germany, where she's a librarian. Juliane Koepcke fell more than 3kms after the plane in which she was traveling broke up in midair. Juliane Koepcke fell more than 3kms after the plane in which she was traveling broke up in midair. Click to view previous image 1 of 2 Click to view next image Yet this unassuming middle aged woman has one of the most exciting and unbelievable stories of tragedy and survival to tell. It was Christmas Eve, 1971, when Koepcke, then aged 17, and her mother boarded a Lockheed Electra turboprop for a flight from Lima, Peru, to Pucallpa in the Amazonian rainforest. Her parents, both famous zoologists, ran a research station in the jungle studying wildlife. The airline, LANSA, had already lost two aircraft in previous crashes. "We knew the airline had a bad reputation," Koepcke told CNN, "but we desperately wanted to be with my father for Christmas, so we figured it would be alright." The flight was supposed to last for less than an hour and for the first 25 minutes everything was fine, Koepcke recalled. "Then we flew into heavy clouds and the plane started shaking. My mother was very nervous. Then to the right we saw a bright flash and the plane went into a nose dive. My mother said, 'This is it!'" An accident investigation later found that one of the fuel tanks of the Lockheed Electra had been hit by a bolt of lightning which had torn the right wing off. "We were headed straight down. Christmas presents were flying around the cabin and I could hear people screaming." Video Watch Koepcke tell her dramatic survivor's story » As the plane broke into pieces in midair, Koepcke was thrust out into the open air: "Suddenly there was this amazing silence. The plane was gone. I must have been unconscious and then came to in midair. I was flying, spinning through the air and I could see the forest spinning beneath me." Then Koepcke lost consciousness again. She fell more than three kilometers (two miles) into the jungle canopy but miraculously survived with only minor injuries. Koepcke says she is not a spiritual person and has tried to find logical explanations for why she survived. "Maybe it was the fact that I was still attached to a whole row of seats," she says. "It was rotating much like the helicopter and that might have slowed the fall. Also, the place I landed had very thick foliage and that might have lessened the impact." In any case she survived with only minor injuries. Her collarbone was broken, her right eye swollen shut, she was suffering concussion and had large gashes on her arms and legs. Don't Miss * Investigators: Air France plane crashed intact * 'Miracle' plane crash survivor back in France * How do people survive airline crashes? "I didn't wake up until nine o'clock the next morning. I know this because my watch was still working. So I must have been unconscious the whole afternoon and the night. When I came to I was alone, just me ... and my row of seats." Her ordeal was far from over. Rescue planes and search crews were unable to locate the crash site and Koepcke was stranded in the jungle alone. But she had spent years on the research station with her parents and her father had taught her how to survive in the rainforest -- she knew how to cope in that environment. ""He said if you find a creek, follow it because that will lead to a stream and a stream will lead to a bigger river and that's where you'll find help." The day after the crash she found a creek and started to wade down stream, but it was tough going. The only food she had was some candy she had found at the crash site and her wounds were quickly infested with parasites. "I had a cut on my arm and after a few days I could feel there was something in it. I took a look and a fly had laid her eggs in the hole. It was full of maggots. I was afraid I would lose my arm. Later, after I was rescued it was treated and more than 50 maggots were found inside. I still wonder how so many maggots could have fitted into that little hole, it was no bigger than a one euro coin." As she travelled downstream, Koepcke discovered more wreckage from the plane -- and found some of the crash victims. "I found another row of seats with three dead women still strapped in. They had landed head-first and the impact must have been so hard that they were buried almost two feet into the ground. "I was horrified -- I didn't want to touch them but I wanted to make sure that my mother wasn't one of them. So I took a stick and knocked a shoe off one of the bodies. The toe nails had nail polish on them and I knew it could not have been my mother because she never used nail polish." Juliane continued through the rainforest, wading through jungle streams infested with crocodiles, piranhas and devil rays. "Sometimes I would see a crocodile on the bank and it would start into the water towards me, but I was not afraid. I knew crocodiles don't tend to attack humans." After 10 days, starved and exhausted, Koepke finally came upon a small boat and a hut on the river. She stayed there, hoping to be rescued. The next day a group of Peruvian lumberjacks found her and brought her to the next town. She became known as the miracle girl and was hounded by Peruvian media, receiving hundreds of letters from people she had never met before. "It was so strange," she says, smiling. "Some of the letters were simply addressed 'Juliane -- Peru' but they still all found their way to me." advertisement The events of 1971 still haunt Koepcke and she says the memories are especially clear when she is confronted with airline disasters like last month's Air France crash off the coast of Brazil. "It just horrifies me. I only hope it all went quickly for those on board."

Sea Lion steals Sheriff's Fireboat and goes on a joyride A sea lion became a unexpected sea captain when the curious creature took the helm of an Orange County Sheriff's Harbor Patrol fireboat, officials say. Last week, Harbor Patrol deputies responded to a report of an aggressive sea lion who had reportedly latched onto a child's pant leg, according to Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Jim Slikker. The deputies were able to get the the juvenile sea lion back into the water, but only a few minutes later, it jumped back on the dock. Concerned for public safety, the deputies decided they would take the animal to a local sea lion hangout, Slikker says. They were able to get the sea lion onto the fireboat using a makeshift leash. During the trip, the sea lion snuck into the V-berth and then jumped into the driver's seat, according to the deputies. They say he used his flippers to experiment with the many buttons and controls that were laid out before him. The marine mammal made his way to the lower steering station and accidentally started shifting the course of the boat. Deputies attempted to persuade the sea lion to leave the throttles -- which, at the time, were switched to reverse. Deputy Slikker says they eventually got him to move off the controls and regained control of the boat. The mischievous sea lion and the boat were brought to the Harbor Patrol docks to wait for an animal control officer. Back at the docks, the animal was gently coxed from the boat with a garden hose, deputies say. After a few squirts of water, he jumped onto the dock, where he waited around for an hour and a half before heading back into the bay.

Michael Jackson's will from 2002 The will, dated July 7, 2002, estimated his estate at that time at more than $500 million. It gives the entire estate to the Michael Jackson Family Trust. The documents said Jackson's estate consisted almost entirely of "non-cash, non-liquid assets, including primarily an interest in a catalogue of music royalty rights which is currently being administered by Sony ATV, and the interests of various entities." His mother, Katherine Jackson, is named as a beneficiary of the trust and the guardian of Jackson's children, who are named in the will. The will names Diana Ross as a successor guardian to Jackson's mother if necessary. It also names Jackson's longtime lawyer John Branca and John McClain, a music executive and a family friend, as co-executors of the will. Michael Jackson's 7-year-old will was filed Wednesday in a Los Angeles court, giving his entire estate to a family trust but cutting out his former wife Debbie Rowe In a statement, Branca and McClain said: "The most important element of Michael's will is his unwavering desire that his mother, Katherine, become the legal guardian for his three children. As we work to carry out Michael's instructions to safeguard both the future of his children as well as the remarkable legacy he left us as an artist we ask that all matters involving his estate be handled with the dignity and the respect that Michael and his family deserve."
