Police Chase, Fire, Rescue In Fort Worth Caught On Tape Police dash cam:April 02/08,just released footage,FORT WORTH,A chase that ended at a restaurant at 25th and Roosevelt in Fort Worth turned a Sansom Park police officer from pursuer to rescuer. The entire incident was caught on a squad car's dash camera. The chase started along Azle Avenue in Sansom Park. "I estimate their speed at probably over 100 mph," said Sansom Park Police Officer Josh Smith. When Officer Smith caught up to the Dodge intrepid carrying four teenage boys, he found the car smashed into the side of a restaurant. With his gun drawn, Officer Smith heard screams coming from the car. "I've got people screaming in the car," said Officer Smith. I don't know if I have a kidnapping or what at this point." The smoke from the hood became thicker and Officer Smith saw flames. "Once they started rolling out of the hood, I knew it was getting to the point where it was going to become fully engulfed," said Officer Smith. That's when he pulled his out baton and went to work. By this time, a Fort Worth officer was on the scene to help. They pulled the two teens in the front out of the vehicle. Meanwhile, the flames were becoming more intense. Someone else smashes another window so the teens in the back can escape. One of the boys had a broken leg and his screams of pain could be heard on the dash-cam video. All four teens were finally pulled a safe distance from the burning car. Police found several stolen purses in the car as well as marijuana. |

Colombian Congressman Dies On Live T.V. - COLOMBIA May 07/2008 A colombian congressman died on live TV as a debate was happening in Colombia's congress. Congressman Fernando Castro suffered a heart attack and an ambulance was called, after 25 minutes had passed and it hand't arrived other congressmen took him away but the elevator didn't work and lost another 15 minutes. They finally took him to a nearby hospital but unfortunately the hospital had run out of oxygen and their revival equipment was broken down. The congressman died. - |

Dashcam video released in taser death of 29 year-old motorist Minnesota officials are releasing video of a Taser incident that ended in the death of a 29-year-old motorist. Mark Backlund of Fridley had just crashed his minivan on I-694 in the northern Minneapolis suburb of New Brighton in January. Video from a squad car dashcam shows state troopers approaching Backlund's minivan to see if he's OK. The video appears to show Backlund punching a trooper, as authorities and witnesses say he did. A Taser-mounted camera shows Backlund trying to put his keys in the ignition, and then the Taser being used on him. The video footage shows Backlund getting out of the van and struggling with troopers who used the Taser two more times before they finally handcuffed him and put him in an ambulance. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital. An outside investigation earlier this month cleared the troopers of any misconduct. A medical examiner found that "acute cocaine intoxication" was the main factor in Backlund's death. |

Raw Video: Crash Ends With Explosion caught on tape May 8, 2008 12:21 pm Crashes End With Explosion In Allston ALLSTON, Mass. (WBZ) ― Nine vehicles were damaged in a wild series of crashes in Allston Thursday morning that carried on for several blocks and ended with an explosion and fire. A source told WBZ the truck driver who started it said he blacked out. It began just after 7 a.m. when an out-of-control delivery truck heading outbound on Commonwealth Avenue slammed into a pick-up at Babcock Street, knocking it onto the trolley tracks. The tractor-trailer then slammed into five parked cars and pushed a parked Range Rover nearly a block before the SUV ended up crashing into the window of an insurance company at the intersection of Comm. Ave. and Brighton Avenue. The truck then collided head-on with an eighth vehicle. That set off a massive explosion and both went up in flames. Police say three people, including the truck driver, were taken to the hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries. A hazardous materials team was called in because there were medical supplies on the burning New England Delivery truck. Investigators were concerned about a highly flammable chemical on board called Xylene, a paint thinner that's also a cleaning agent. It did not leak, although fuel from both vehicles spilled at the scene. New England Delivery, which is based out of Wilmington, had no comment. Fire department spokesman Steve McDonald said Boston police will now begin an investigation. Comm. Ave outbound remains closed to traffic in the area. Green B Line trolley service between Babcock and Blandford Streets was suspended for about three hours. It resumed at 10:30 a.m. |
