Where Are My Shoes? Russia (Chelyabinsk?) - Drunk guy falls from eighth floor on top of a parked car. Fearing the worst, his friends rush to the scene only to discover him alive. They call an ambulance, but after five minutes the guy tells he doesn't need any help and asks after his shoes. I think he'll be allright after they remove those glass shards from his nack. Three dead, two injured in Gozo fireworks factory blast Three dead, two injured in Gozo fireworks factory blast Three people lost their lives, one is in a critical condition and another seriously injured in a fireworks factory explosion near Gharb in Gozo at about 6.10 pm. today, the police said. They said that it was not excluded that there had been more people on site at the time of the explosion and the search is continuing. Eyewitnesses said they saw a big mushroom-shaped cloud over the scene. Three explosions were heard over a wide area. The fireworks were for the feast of Our Lady of Victories being celebrated in Xaghra on Wednesday. |

Another British police tough guy faces prison for violent assault When the British Police aren't gunning Brazilian electricians down on the tube, fabricating evidence, or persecuting law abiding motorists, they can be found assaulting innocent members of the public. In the case of Ian Tomlinson, police assault led to his quick death on the streets of London, happily for this 57 year lady police assault merely led to her suffering severe cuts and facial bruising. Sergeant Mark Andrews now faces prison having been found guilty of assault at Oxford Magistrates Court, after a five day trial. Further enquiries are ongoing as to why this lady was arrested at all. |

Wisconsin Rapids police officer shoots teen wielding knife The Wood County Sheriff’s Department has released video of a Wisconsin Rapids police officer’s shooting of a 16-year-old boy who was carrying a knife. At 2:59 a.m. Aug. 15, a Wisconsin Rapids officer responded to the report of three people attacking a vehicle and one person threatening a man with a knife. Wisconsin Rapids Officer Rod Krakow, a 22-year veteran of the department, encountered a 16-year-old boy on Gaynor Avenue. In the video taken from Krakow’s squad car, Krakow can be heard repeatedly telling the teenager to drop the knife and get to the ground. He tells another officer to “tase him” just before the teenager lunges with the knife at the officer. Wood County Sheriff’s Department Investigator-Sgt. Scott Machotka said the teenager was about 18 feet from the officer when he lunged forward. He was 12 feet away from Krakow when the first shot was fired and fell to the ground about four feet from Krakow. The teenager remained in fair condition today at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. |

Quetta rally suicide bomb kills dozens A suicide bombing has killed at least 50 people in Quetta, south-western Pakistan, police say. Nearly 80 others were injured in the explosion at the Shia Muslim rally in the Meezan Chowk area. Pakistani Taliban militants said they had carried out the bombing. It was the second attack on Pakistan's Shia Muslim minority this week - bombs in Lahore on Wednesday killed dozens in an attack also claimed by the Taliban. The bombings come at a time when Pakistan is grappling with unprecedented floods that have displaced millions of people. |
